A UNESCO World Heritage Site and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill
Blenheim Palace stands in a romantic park near the pretty town of Woodstock, created by the famous landscape gardener ‘Capability’ Brown. It was presented by the English nation to John Churchill, first Duke of Marlborough, in recognition of his famous victory over French and Bavarian troops at the Battle of Blenheim in 1704.
Built between 1705 and 1722, the palace is a perfect example of an 18th-century princely dwelling — and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s also the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, whose life and legacy is celebrated within the state rooms and Churchill Exhibition. The formal gardens, kitchen garden and sweeping parkland make Blenheim a full day out, whatever the season.
