Silverstone

Home of the British Grand Prix — one of the world's most iconic racing circuits

13 miles from The Fox Inn
20 mins drive

The end of the Second World War left Britain with no major race track but plenty of airfields. On 2 October 1948, the Royal Automobile Club hosted the first British Grand Prix at Silverstone, a former RAF base. An estimated 100,000 people flocked to see Luigi Villoresi beat 22 others in his Maserati — and Silverstone’s racing history had begun.

Today, Silverstone is one of the most famous circuits in the world. Whether you’re here for the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, a track day in your own car, or a tour of the impressive Silverstone Museum, there’s something for every petrolhead. Just 20 minutes from The Fox, it makes for a brilliant day out before returning for a well-earned pint.
